Q. Why do you find greater inspiration in the bodies of "ordinary people" than professional models? なぜ専門モデルよりも「普通の人々」の体に、より大きなインスピレーションを受けるのですか？ 왜 전문 모델보다 '평범한 사람들'의 몸에서 더 큰 영감을 얻습니까?
A. I believe there is sometimes more excitement and a higher sense of completion in imperfection rather than perfection. The naturalness felt from those who are a bit unrefined feels less artificial and gives me more passion. It feels like saying, "I created this. This is my ability". It is easier to pour my own thoughts into an empty vessel. Those who are already full often have ingrained habits, and I dislike that. However, lately, there are many ordinary people who overstep their bounds, which can be quite uncomfortable and annoying.
A. 時には完璧さよりも、不完全さから来る興奮や完成度というものがあると考えています。少しぎこちない彼らから感じられる自然体な姿は、作為的な部分が少なくて、何か情熱もより湧いてくる感じがするんです。「俺がこれを作り上げた。俺の能力だ」というような感覚ですね。空っぽの器に「自分」という人間の考えを注ぎ込む方が簡単なのです。すでに多くのものが詰まっている状態では、体に染み付いている習慣のようなものがあるじゃないですか。俺はそういうのが嫌いなんです。ただ、最近はあまりにも一般人のレベルで身の程をわきまえない人々も増えてきて、少し不快でイライラすることも多いのは事実です。
A. 때로는 완벽함보다는 불완전함에서 오는 흥분감과 완성도가 더 있다고 생각합니다. 조금 어리숙한 그들에게서 느껴지는 자연스러움이 덜 인위적이고 뭔가 열정도 더 생기는 느낌이에요. "내가 이렇게 만들어냈다. 내 능력이다" 이런 거요. 텅 비어있는 통에 '나'라는 사람의 생각을 집어넣기 더 쉬운 거죠. 이미 너무 많은 것이 들어차 있는 상태에서는 이미 몸에 배어있는 습관 같은 게 있잖아요. 저는 그런 게 싫습니다. 다만 최근에는 너무 일반인 수준에서 주제넘는 사람들도 많아져서 조금 불편하고 짜증 날 때도 많기는 합니다.
